FAQ's

Who is Vibrant Kids Studio?

ABOUT THE STUDIO

Vibrant Kids Studio is a home based studio, located minutes from downtown Marysville.

Weekly classes and workshops are offered for ages 6-18. Over the summer, look for camps and special events.

All classes are taught by artist Laura Rekow.

ABOUT THE OWNER

Always an artist, Laura grew up taking classes like the ones she teaches, out of an artist's home studio! She went on to study art in college.

Besides spending time with her family and painting, teaching art also brings her great joy! Sometimes the right job just finds you, and you know it's what you were meant to do. That's how she feels about teaching art!

Behavior policy?

The number one rule at the studio is respect. Respect each other, the teacher, the materials and the studio. If student behavior steps over the line, a phone call or email will be made to the family. Disruptive and disrespectful behavior affects the learning of other students. If more than one discussion needs to be made, disruptive students will be asked to discontinue classes at the family’s expense (no refunds). A student that poses a threat to other students, the studio, or the teacher will be asked to leave immediately.

What is included in your summer camp program?

These summer art camps are a great way to explore many different art mediums and techniques, using quality materials. Every camper will create their own artwork, with step by step instruction. Nothing is ever pre-drawn, so kids are truly learning different art methods, color mixing and blending, as well as improving observational drawing and painting skills.

  • Camps are for ages 6-12. Ages over 12 are okay with the understanding that there may be many younger campers.
  • Different projects each week. No repeat projects for those taking more than one camp!
  • Acrylic on canvas and watercolor painting, sewing, clay, wood working, drawing, chalk and/or oil pastels, printing and more.
  • $275/camp week if registered by March 31. Register April 1 to May 25th for $300/camp week, or May 26th or later for $330/camp week.
  • Camp size is limited, with lots of one on one attention from the instructor.
  • New this year: longer daily sessions! All camps are from 9:30 am -1:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.

Note: If a session is sold out, please email vibrantkidsco@gmail.com to be added to the camp waitlist

Who can take art lessons?

Kids over the age of 6  with artistic interests are happily welcomed! From absolute beginner to advanced, everyone is welcome and everyone can grow their skills and love for art! Please do not register your child if they are not actually 6 yet. This is a firm age requirement.

How much does it cost?

After School Classes:

K-6 classes (2 hrs/wk) are $295 per 4 week session. Some sessions are shorter due to holidays or Marysville School District school breaks, and will be priced at $222 for 3 weeks, or $148 for 2 weeks and $74 for one week.

10 & Up classes (2.25 hrs/wk) are $315 per 4 week session. Some sessions are shorter due to holidays or Marysville School District school breaks, and will be priced at $237 for 3 weeks, or $158 for 2 weeks and $79 for one week.

How do I register?

For camps and workshops, add to cart and follow the prompts to fill out registration forms and submit payment. Easy peasy!

For weekly classes, fill out a registration form for the class you are interested in. You will hear back within a day or two if there is space available in that class, or you will be added to the wait list if there is not currently space.  If there is room, you will be emailed an invoice. Once both the registration form is submitted and invoice is paid, registration is complete. Spots will not be reserved if payment is not completed.

Please note that your credit card will be auto-charged for weekly classes on the 20th for the following month unless you provide written notice via email before then to discontinue class.

What does my kid bring?

Nothing but a can do attitude! All supplies are provided, with the rare exception of some more elaborate projects.

For Summer Camp artist/s, students will need to bring a snack for snack time and a water bottle. Additional water will be provided for campers if needed to quench their thirst.

What if we miss a class/workshop or camp day?

Missed class days: Bummer...there are no refunds or prorated tuition for missed weekly classes. We can offer to schedule a make up class within 30 days of the missed class, if there is space permitting in the other classes. Additionally, make up classes are for those who miss for illness or emergency only. There are no guarantees for a make-up class.

Please plan to have your child at all scheduled classes. When you pay for a full session, you receive a discount and are paying for us to hold space for your student. If you know in advance that there will be missed days and choose to pay the non-discounted weekly drop-in rate, you may risk losing your student's spot in class. Priority enrollment goes to those who register for a full session and pay in advance.

If  the missed class is a "no call, no show" the class cannot be made up. Please call or text to let us know not to expect your student so that we don't wait.

Workshops cannot be used for an after school make up class.

Missed workshops: there are no refunds for Workshops. We will issue credit for a future Workshop with 48 hours notice. With less than 48 hours notice, no credit will be issued.

Missed camp days: cannot be made up, and will not be prorated or refunded.

Camp cancellation policy: If notice is given 90 or more days prior to the 1st day of camp, a full refund will be given, less a $35 processing fee. With 60 days notice, a full refund will be given less a $50 processing fee. With less than 30 days notice, no refunds will be given.

What if class/workshop or camp is cancelled?

If the instructor has to cancel a class due to illness or in the event of inclement weather, a make up class will be offered, or you may receive credit for a future class.

Workshops and camps that are cancelled will be refunded in full, or credit will be given.

What is the drop off and or pick up policy?

There is a 5 minute "grace" period before and after class times. This window allows plenty of time for students to come in and get situated before class, or clean up after. Please note the start and end times for classes, and avoid early drop off and late pick up without prior permission. Things happen, and exceptions can be made on occasion. If there is an ongoing early/late problem, you will be billed $1 per minute outside of the grace period window.

Vibrant Kids Studio classes are structured with guided lessons as well as work time. If a student arrives late or leaves early for a class, they may have trouble catching up or finishing that day's project. This can be distressing to most students, and disruptive to the class. Please try to minimize late arrivals and early departures when possible.

Can I meet the instructor and visit the studio before registering?

Absolutely! Just make an appointment as the studio is at a private residence. Appointments can be made on teaching days before or after class time. No weekend appointments.

Can I stay to watch?

For the comfort of all of the students, and because of space limitations, all classes are drop off only. When parents linger, many students including those that aren't yours, become self conscious. If your child does not do well in a drop off setting, it may be best to wait until they are older. If your child requires an assistant for special needs, please discuss in advance of registration.

My child doesn't meet the age requirement, but they are advanced. Can I sign up anyway?

No. There is a set age requirement for a multitude of reasons, including social and emotional readiness, just like there is for school or other activities. To be fair to all students and families that have been waiting to join until the required age, we cannot make any exceptions. If it becomes evident during any class, camp or workshop that a student was registered before the required age for that program, their enrollment will be terminated on the spot with no refund.
